Air quality update: As Delhi’s air quality worsens ahead of winter, air pollution and its management have become a pressing issue in the national capital. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to remain in the “Poor” category for the next three days. Currently, the AQI stands at 267, with several areas already experiencing alarming pollution levels.
Anand Vihar, Mundka, and Loni are among the city’s most polluted locations. In response to the declining air quality, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has imposed a ban on the manufacturing, storage, sale, and delivery (including online platforms) of all types of firecrackers in the National Capital Territory of Delhi until January 1, 2025. This measure is part of the Delhi government’s 21-point Winter Action Plan.
